The biggest misconception about Metallic Epoxy is that it is "delicate." It is not—if installed correctly.
Many contractors leave the metallic coat exposed, which scratches easily. At FAMSCA, we apply a sacrificial wear layer.
- High-Wear Urethane Topcoat: We finish our metallic floors with a clear, industrial-grade urethane or Polyaspartic layer.
- Scratch Resistance: This topcoat protects the artistic layer from foot traffic and furniture drags.
- Stain Proof: Wine, oil, and coffee wipe right off without staining the design.
It’s Not Paint. It’s Chemistry
Installing Metallic Epoxy requires more than just tools; it requires technique. Our team has been trained by Dynamic (San Diego), Concrete Experts (Ohio), and Extreme Epoxy (Florida) to master the manipulation of resin.
- The Canvas (Prep): We grind the concrete flat. Any bump in the concrete will ruin the "glass" look, so prep is critical.
- The Base (Primer): We apply a solid color primer (usually black or white) to create depth.
- The Art (Body Coat): We pour the metallic resin and manipulate it using air, solvents, or squeegees to create the desired movement (mild or wild).
- The Shield (Top Coat): We lock in the design with a UV-stable clear coat.

Metallic Flooring FAQ
Is it slippery?
A high-gloss finish looks slippery, but epoxy offers decent traction dry. However, for safety in wet areas (like entryways), we can add a "glass sphere" anti-slip additive that provides grip without dulling the shine.
Can I get a Matte finish?
Yes! While "High Gloss" is the standard for metallic to show off the depth, we can apply a Satin Urethane topcoat. This gives you the marble look with a soft, sophisticated matte finish that hides dust better.
How long does it take to cure?
Metallic floors are thick. We typically require a 2-3 day installation window, plus 24 hours of cure time before foot traffic, to ensure the resin settles perfectly flat.
